MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The M. D. S. in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a three year Postgraduate program. Master’s programme is designed to provide advanced knowledge in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Programme schedule is delivered through Clinical care discussions, diagnostic, investigation interpretation, surgical planning, treatment outcome intra-operative and post- operative care of patients under the able guidance of senior professors. Procedures are done under local anesthesia, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia under the guidance of speciality general anaesthetist. Regular research and thesis topics are taken up as academic activities to motivate students to think laterally and to get a wide view on research and future perceptive of developing surgical skills. Peripheral postings for special training in cancer and trauma are scheduled for better understanding and co-ordination as a team with other branches of surgery.
The objective of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program is to prepare graduates for a successful and productive career in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The curriculum is designed to develop the clinical, academic, and communicative skills that will provide for diversified career options. Admission Criteria are established by the college. To be considered for admission, you should have completed a five year Bachelors of Dental Studies(BDS) from a Dental Council of India accredited college or university prior to beginning postgraduate studies.
You should have earned good scores or grades in all prior undergraduate college-level coursework. A 2-3 page sample of your best writing for further evaluation of your professional and research skills. This could be a short paper, an excerpt from a longer paper, a report from your place of employment, or a medical writing sample (e.g. a lab report, a research report etc.)
